Studies directed to the middle class made by Shawn Achor in 2010 show a different perspective of positivity and outcomes at work. It is known that if you find a job that you like, you will be happy and productive at it, but sometimes it can be wrong. The key of a successful job is not only about if you love it or not, but it is also about positive thoughts and personal goals. When we have the goal of finding a job that we like, our happiness and productiveness will be all towards it. Once we found it, instead of being happy, we change our perspective of successful and happiness to something ahead, like having a promotion, for example. So the problem is that we are never satisfied with our present life, and to be happy not only at our job, but also in our life, we need to live the moment as a great thing, so wherever comes next will be even better. Em Lucíola de José de Alencar (romance de narrativa social urbana) há uma dialética entre o interior e o exterior, a alma e o “eu” em conflito com a sociedade. Embora não haja críticas sociais explícitas no romance, já que conta exatamente como a sociedade se comportava, com o olhar do século XXI é possível criticar algumas passagens do romance, já que muita coisa mudou do século XIX até agora. A história é ambientada em território urbano (Rio de Janeiro, 1855, Corte) e é contada por Paulo, um jovem da província de Olinda que acabou seus estudos e decide ir à Corte e seu envolvimento com Lúcia, uma cortesã muito conhecida na região.
